Title | The Copenhagen Bench |
Brief | Climate change is likely the biggest threat facing mankind. But since we cannot see the changes in our everyday lives, we are unable to change course. And many people have become desensitized to the reports and the images of melting icebergs. As the largest public service broadcaster in Denmark, TV 2 felt an obligation to raise awareness and put climate change on the agenda. But a new way of communicating was necessary. To make the consequences tangible to everyone, we elevated the iconic Copenhagen bench by 85 centimeters to match what the UN considers to be a realistic rise of the sea-level in the year 2100. Or as it says on a cobber plate on the front of the bench:"Flooding will become part of our everyday life unless we start doing something about our climate. According to the latest UN Climate Report sea-levels are expected to rise with up to 1 meter before 2100 if the global warming continues". |
