Title | Too Beautiful - Our Right to Fight |
Brief | The documentary focuses on Namibia, a female boxer from Cuba who dreams of becoming the first Cuban female Olympic Champion. But while Cuba ranks as one of the most successful countries in Olympic boxing history, women are banned from competing in the sport. For years now, Namibia has been following an intensive training regime hoping that the Cuban government will lift the ban. At 39, she is now right on the edge of the age limits placed on athletes eligibility of being able to participate. The film premiered at the Sheffield Documentary Festival and is currently doing a worldtour at filmfestivals. In December 2018, the film will screen in competition at the Havana Film Festival and early 2019 the film will be released in the US in collaboration with Adidas, touring the big cities. The goal is to raise awareness about the ban and have the Olympic committee put pressure on the Cuban government to lift the ban in Cuba. The film will also trigger an impact campaign together with Adidas, where we will support a boxing school for woman in Havana (to start with), invite young female athletes from Cuba to train abroad with top-level boxing trainers. |
