| Brief | Art plays a significant role in forming people’s world views and self-image. That’s why it’s sad that Finnish teens don’t really feel art and culture as their own.We decided to do something about it. Introducing: Project Teen Critics, the world's biggest organised art evalutation.We invited all Finnish eighth-graders to visit two different art and culture venues during a year. The first visits were made in September 2017, and the project will continue until May 2020. The national campaign will reach almost 200,000 teens, plus the teachers.As critics, the teens have the power to express their opinions openly and discover what art means to them. Comments and ideas can be submitted through an on-site mobile application and published on Teen Critics website in real-time – and without any censorship. This information will help the art institutions and artists to develop future programs that better their younger audiences.The campaign strives to offer young people unforgettable art experiences which may trigger a life-long interest in culture, and also art to which many would not otherwise have access. |
