Mabrouk El Mechri

Mabrouk El Mechri

Director at Wanda Paris
Puteaux, France

About me

By the age of 35, Mabrouk El Mechri directed a cult film – JCVD starring Jean-Claude Van Damme as himself – a historical TV series and a film with Bruce Willis, making him the youngest, internationally reaching, French director working today.
Mabrouk began his career directing short films in 1998 and directed his first feature, Virgil, in 2005. He wrote and directed his second film: JCVD in 2008. In 2010, Mabrouk directed most episodes of Maison Close, a French television series narrating the lives of three women inside a Parisian luxury bordello at the end of the 19th Century.
His film The Cold Light of Day with Bruce Willis and Sigouney Weaver is due to come out in 2012.
Mabrouk is part of the new guard of international French directors going back and forth between fiction and commercials; an amazing actor’s director who is as comfortable with comedy and action as with elaborate art direction.
