Yann studied graphic design and illustration and on graduating was immediately snapped up by a London based brand identity company. He soon started developing his designs into animation through his expansive knowledge of After Effects.
His ability to strip an idea down to its essence, a skill he developed from many years as a storyboard artist and designer, caught the eye of Stockholm agency, Lowe Brindfors, who asked him to produce a series of films for SAAB. Yann teamed up with Mark Murrell to found 76 Ltd in 2004 and has since been busy directing global campaigns for brands including Knorr, RBS, Electrolux, Garmin, Nokia, Toyota, SAAB and Bentley.
Yann has won numerous awards for his innovative and beautifully executed animations for promotions, idents and feature film title sequences. These include Design Week Gold for “Rapture” and D&AD for “Mansfield Park”, “Rapture” and “Psychos” title sequences and design.
Always working in a very inclusive way, Yann draws heavily from his post production knowledge and design, creating beautifully detailed storyboards and animatics in the pre-production stages. This enables him to develop new techniques and tricks required for each individual spot. Through this approach he has the ability to make implausible scenarios feel completely natural.
Yann’s passion for all things visual continues to drive him forward, developing his clean visual style with seamless post-production to create the quirky slants on reality he enjoys so much.
2017 was a prolific year for Yann, shooting several campaigns for Experian, Heinz, Hyundai, Kellogg’s, Kikkoman, Morrison’s, SUN and Toyota, for agencies inluding BBH, INNOCEAN, LEO BURNNETTS, NOAH, PUBLICIS, MULLEN LOWE and SAATCHI & SAATCHI.
