About me

Mike is President & CEO of Toronto, New York & Vancouver-based agency Zulu Alpha Kilo and its content division zulubot. For the fourth year running, Zulu was recently named one of Canada's Best Managed Companies by Deloitte. In 2022, the agency was crowned International Small Agency of the Year at the Ad Age Small Agency Awards in Chicago. In 2016, the shop was also named AdAge's Small Agency of the Year. Founded in July 2008 by world-renowned Creative Director Zak Mroueh, Zulu boasts a staff of 150 people. Clients include Bell Canada, Campbell's, Cineplex Entertainment, Destination BC, Harry Rosen, HomeEquity Bank, Interac, ParticipACTION, RGC, Sephora, SingleCut Beersmiths, Subaru and Whirlpool.

Sutton started his career at digital shop henderson bas where he was responsible for leading the strategic development of large-scale digital programs for Molson Coors, Nike and Coca-Cola. During his 6 years there, he helped the shop win numerous industry awards and accolades, including Marketing’s Digital Agency Of The Year Strategy’s Direct Agency Of The Year. As one of 10 young Canadians selected for Marketing Magazine’s “Ones To Watch: Marketing’s Next Generation,” Mike built a reputation as a thought-leader in Interactive and non-traditional marketing.

In 2005, Mike sought to augment his digital skills with mass advertising experience and joined Grip Limited. In 5 years at Grip, Mike played a leadership role in building Grip's digital capabilities. In 3 short years, the digital team grew from 3 to over 40 people. Mike worked across an impressive roster of brands like Honda, Budweiser, Bud Light, Kokanee, Expedia and Johnson & Johnson to name a few. In his last 2 years at Grip, as head of Client Service, Mike oversaw a team of 40 people.

Mike is a regular speaker at industry events and universities and is a strong advocate for new and innovative approaches to marketing and advertising. He has also volunteered time as a board member of the St. Joseph's Hospital Foundation. In 2022, Mike became a certified Leadership & Performance Coach.

Mike’s passion for building high-performance teams has made him a sought-after leader in the industry. His track record of being at the forefront of emerging digital advances caught the eye of Zulu Alpha Kilo’s founder, and in 2010, Mike joined the agency. He is one of the first leaders of a mainstream creative agency who grew up fully immersed in the digital space.
Prior to Zulu, Mike started his career at Henderson Bas, a digital agency that is part of the MDC network. There, he led the strategic development of large-scale digital programs for Molson Coors, Nike, and Coca-Cola. Following that, Mike spent five years building an 80-person digital team at Grip Limited, working on Honda, Acura, Anheuser-Busch, and Expedia.
Throughout his career, he has built a reputation as a thought leader in digital, social and non-traditional marketing. Clients love Mike’s calming presence, and he plays a pivotal role in helping them reach their full potential as marketers.
