Serge Dumont is Vice Chairman of Omnicom Group Inc. (NYSE: OMC) and Chairman of Omnicom Asia Pacific. One of his key responsibilities is managing the Greater China business unit, developing strategies and building relationships to expand Omnicom’s operational footprint in one of the world’s most important markets.
Worldwide revenue for the twelve months ended December 31, 2016 were $15.41 billion - revenues in Asia Pacific were US $1.63 billion. Omnicom employs over 70,000 people worldwide.
A widely recognized authority on strategic communications, Mr Dumont joined Omnicom Group in 2006 as Senior Vice President and President Asia Pacific. He was appointed to his current position in May 2011.
He moved to Beijing as a young entrepreneur in 1985 and established China’s first independent corporate communications consultancy, Interasia, which quickly became the market leader. In 1993 Mr Dumont sold the business to Edelman.
He has advised leading multinational corporations, multilateral organizations and governments, and currently sits on several boards, including the Boards of Synergos and of the China Youth Development Foundation, the Advisory Boards of the Tsinghua University School of Journalism and Communications and of the China European International Business School (CEIBS).
He has been involved in philanthropic activities in the areas of education and public health. In 2006 he was given the global mandate of Special Representative for UNAIDS, the joint United Nations Program on HIV/AIDS.
Recognizing the importance of talent development in China, in 2004 he established a scholarship fund in partnership with CYDF and UNAIDS.
He has received honors and awards from several national governments and international organizations for his contributions to business, philanthropy, culture and education.
