Born and raised in Toronto, Canada, Brett’s career path through the world of advertising has been an unusual one. Originally a copywriter in various Toronto agencies, his “side hustle” — managing the industry website ihaveanidea.org — became his full-time hustle, sending him to far flung corners of the globe to shine a spotlight on the creative industry. Through ihaveanidea, Brett was one of the creators of Portfolio Night, a globe spanning portfolio review that took place annually in multiple cities all on the same evening.
Brett’s initiatives eventually led him to New York as part of the Art Directors Club, which in turn merged with The One Club in 2017 to form The One Club for Creativity, where he has been an integral team member ever since.
Brett’s biggest claim to fame is that he is the creator of the song “Make the Logo Bigger,” the hard-rocking anthem of frustrated creatives for the past 15 years.
