In Bangladesh, only 13% people use mobile payment banking systems even if almost everyone has mobile phone. The remainder of the 160 million population – the unbanked, have developed a mental barrier that has made them too used to the habit using physical cash. So, UCB came up with an innovative mobile wallet solution that replaces unfamiliar QR codes with virtual banknotes, to provide the unbanked masses of the country with financial inclusion.
