Why did you think it was important to join the PHNX jury this year?
In the ever-challenging circumstances in which the world is developing, creativity is still as important as ever, even essential for our survival and progress. Having the opportunity to be a jury for a festival like this is important because we can find out, see and spread amazing ideas that drive the change. We should always strive to make this world a better place for all, in which ever way we can. Creativity is how we do it, and platforms like this one, enable us to get together and unite in this mission.
What do you think of our hybrid jury, featuring creatives but also strategists, clients and people from all corners of the industry?
Having this approach from multiple angles and different layers allows the creators to feel acknowledged and appreciated in a deeper and more inclusive way, and for the hybrid jury, it means to get understanding and inspiration from different corner of their industry than the one they're participating in. For the jury, on the other hand, it is interesting and liberating experience - more inclusive, more diverse and motivational.
What do you think of the idea of free entry until the shortlist stage?
It is motivational and encouraging in many ways. This approach allows smaller agencies and young creatives to enter a place where they could be on the same level as much bigger organizations and to show their creativity to a bigger audience. Most importantly, it brings back the feeling that in essence of what we do as creatives are human-centric values, open-mindedness and a will to be as inclusive as possible.
How would you define the perfect PHNX Awards winner?
Winners in this industry are already all the creatives that are putting in the hard work in order to make an impact, drive the change and inspire the world to think and do better in their respective fields. I hope PHNX Awards winner will be the one who is presenting and promoting such festival's values and vision.
What is having the biggest impact on creative trends at the moment?
There are essentially two main streams that are making the biggest impact on the trends in the creative industries. One is technological progress happening, especially evolution of AI, and the other is change of social dynamics, which is something inherently human and global, from the beginning of the civilization to this day. Change is the only constant, we're just the protagonists of this era. As human beings, we inevitably react to both, and as creatives, we feel a greater need to address these things through our work. I think it is exciting to see what culture and creative trends are evolving from this and what can we do with it.
Who would you nominate as your two or three “creatives of the year”?
Those who know how to find their child-like curiosity and use it in a responsible, "grown-up" way.
