PHNX Jury Interview 2024

Why did you think it was important to join the PHNX jury this year?
In general, I think there's a lack of diversity in the world's juries. There's a lack of diversity of gender, of color, in short... there's a lack of diversity. And for me it's a good opportunity to have access to advertising work and people from all over the world. Generating connections and perhaps future opportunities.
What do you think of our hybrid jury, featuring creatives but also strategists, clients and people from all corners of the industry?
I think it's perfect. The more plural the jury, the better. Different people, different worlds, different experiences and different ways of looking at advertising. Advertising is diverse and its judges need to be too.
What do you think of the idea of free entry until the shortlist stage?
That's perfect. You can get a sense of how strong the idea is. Agencies with little money for awards can use PHNX as a thermometer for other awards.
How would you define the perfect PHNX Awards winner?
The one who manages to bring the originality of a thought, the one who manages to respond to a brief through an idea that leaves you open-mouthed. The one who leaves you thinking: how come I didn't think of this before?
What is having the biggest impact on creative trends at the moment?
Look out of the window, the world is changing and with it the thinking of many big brands. They are gradually looking at this issue and creating ideas to reduce the impact on the world's climate.
Who would you nominate as your two or three “creatives of the year”?
1: Danilo Boer
2: Diego Machado
3: Suzana Apelbaum
