Katja Alissa Mueller Interview(s)

PHNX Jury Interview 2024

Why did you think it was important to join the PHNX jury this year?
To add another voice to the mix. Creative work is made for the many, so awards should be judged by the many as well. More people guarantee a more democratic way of making sure that creativity, strategy and impact translate the way it was intended to.
What do you think of our hybrid jury, featuring creatives but also strategists, clients and people from all corners of the industry?
An absolute must and something I’d love to see more in other awards. The best work is never created in a silo, so ideally, it shouldn't be judged in a silo either.
What do you think of the idea of free entry until the shortlist stage?
A step into a more equal direction invites a broader spectrum of creativity. However, I would love to see it go one step further and have tiered entry fees so that small businesses and creatives without the funds to spare don’t feel discouraged to apply in the first place.
How would you define the perfect PHNX Awards winner?
A mix of solid strategy, innovative creative thinking, high craft and the ability to evoke an emotional connection or response with the audience.
What is having the biggest impact on creative trends at the moment?
It has to be short-lived AI playfulness. But it's time to start thinking about the long-term implications and get various strategies in place to respond healthily.
Who would you nominate as your two or three “creatives of the year”?
- Suleika Mueller (not related), Photographer: www.instagram.com
- Naomi Joda, Freelance Creative/Art Director | Travel Content Creator, www.linkedin.com
- Emilie Chen, Independent Art Director and Graphic Designer, www.linkedin.com
