PHNX Jury Interview 2024

Why did you think it was important to join the PHNX jury this year?
As someone deeply passionate about the power of creativity, joining the PHNX jury made sense. Its commitment to inclusivity, embracing diverse talents from various backgrounds across the industry, resonates with me. It offers an exhilarating platform to honor innovation, push boundaries, and celebrate creativity. I'm genuinely thrilled to be part of this dynamic and inclusive community.
What do you think of our hybrid jury, featuring creatives but also strategists, clients and people from all corners of the industry?
I think it's an incredibly refreshing concept. Our industry is made by all of us - from creatives and strategists to clients and everyone in between. I believe this inclusive approach reflects the dynamic nature of our industry and reinforces the belief that everyone's involvement is essential for pushing boundaries.
What do you think of the idea of free entry until the shortlist stage?
It's a fantastic idea as it levels the playing field, enabling smaller agencies to showcase their work without financial constraints. This ensures that creativity shines regardless of budget limitations.
How would you define the perfect PHNX Awards winner?
The ideal winner must embody innovation, creativity, and impact, pushing boundaries and leaving an indelible mark on our world. Their work should resonates not only with us but also with the public, sparking conversations and driving change. Whether through groundbreaking campaigns, compelling storytelling, or innovative strategies, they must be trailblazers who redefine excellence and set new standards.
What is having the biggest impact on creative trends at the moment?
In my opinion, technological advancements are redefining the possibilities for creative expression. And I also believe that now there's a real sense of purpose driving us, a collective desire to use our skills to tackle big societal issues head-on by pushing for ideas that have a bigger impact on societal changes.
Who would you nominate as your two or three “creatives of the year”?
This is a big question. Bianca Guimaraes and Ali Rez immediately come to mind. They're true powerhouses. They're true powerhouses. Guimaraes, notable craft culture-shifting work, and confronting tough issues head-on. And Rez, definitely drives the creative industry forward with memorable and impactful masterpieces.
